David Baldacci B.A. ’83, H.L.D. ’01

Alumnus funds the growth of creative writing at VCU

Author of 10 consecutive New York Times bestsellers, with nearly 40 million copies in print worldwide, David Baldacci began writing political suspense novels while working as a corporate lawyer in Washington, D.C. Baldacci is a former board member of the VCU Foundation and currently serves on the University’s Board of Visitors.

The Henrico County native recently established the David Baldacci Fund for Creative Writing at VCU with a pledge of $112,000. Already a champion of VCU Libraries, the College of Humanities and Sciences, the Center for Public Policy, and the VCU Alumni House, Baldacci established the fund to aid in VCU’s First Novelist Award. His generosity also provides funding for a graduate student and a visiting writers series.
